The Design Museum

Located in downtown Baton Rouge, The Design Museum is a historic building that will be redesigned to serve a multitude of purposes for the general public and local community. While its main function is to educate those who proceed through the exhibit, it is additionally a place for individuals and organizations to meet, collaborate, and attend further educational and social functions. It will also serve as a resource for the community to find often publicly inaccessible texts and information which lends to the greater goal of the conservation and propagation of the history of design being preserved in society. Additionally, The Design Museum will work in conjunction with schools and institutions nearby to involve students in the process and fields of design.

Concept

To synthesize information and apply it in your life, you need to understand that information, and the most valuable mode of understanding comes through experience. Every exhibit is designed in such a way that you progress through the spaces on your own journey and take in the information along a unique path that you create. You can then directly apply that newly learned information through a hands-on educational experience specific to each section and exhibit that is approachable, straightforward, and tangible.
